Online School Payments

The Broward County School District has developed a faster and more efficient way to accept payments from parents and students. The school board will begin accepting online payments for school sponsored activities, such as yearbook, field trips, fundraisers, etc.

The users of the online system must have a Student ID number available before they begin. (All students have been issued a unique Student ID number. If this number is not available, please contact PBHS).

Click here to start the online payment process.

The Broward School District has become more innovative, and we appriciate feedback received from parents and students regarding this online payment initiative. You will find the online payment option safe, simple, and convenient.

If you have questions or comments regarding online payments, please contact Nell Johnson in the International Accounts Office at (754) 321 - 0589.

PBHS is a Blue Ribbon School

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan announced that Pompano Beach High School was officially selected as a Blue Ribbon School. Pompano Beach High School is one of 264 public schools in the nation, three of the public schools in the state of Florida, and one of two in Broward County recognized as a Blue Ribbon School.

"The award honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools that are either academically superior, or have made dramatic gains in student achievement and helped close gaps in achievement among minority and disadvantaged students. Each year since 1982, the U.S. Department of Education has sought out schools where students attain and maintain high academic goals. Using standards of excellence, as evidenced by student achievement measures and the characteristics known from research to exemplify school quality, the Department celebrates schools, including those that beat the odds."

Congratulations to the students, teachers, and staff for "earning" this very prestigious award.

Mr. Gordon, Principal

APPLE DISTINGUISHED SCHOOL since 2007

Mr. John Couch, the Vice-President of Education for Apple has informed us that Pompano Beach High School has been selected as an Apple Distinguished School for 2008-2009. Pompano Beach High School is one of just eighteen schools Apple is recognizing nationwide and one of two in the state of Florida. This recognition could only be achieved by the efforts of the many great members of the PBHS Team. We know that this is a result of a vision we share with Apple: “a world in which all learners are empowered to discover their own special genius.” Congratulations PBHS!

PBHS Attendance Policy during a Nine Week Period

Students will be required to complete a form with Parent/Guardian’s signature to excuse an absence AND/OR an absence from any class period because of a Tardy or Early Release from school. Phone calls will not be accepted. That form must be returned to the main office by the second day, not counting the day the student returns.

If an absence form is NOT completed on time, the absence will remain unexcused.

Regardless of the reason for an absence, all students WILL BE ALLOWED to make up work. If the absence is excused, the work will count for a grade; if unexcused, the grade will remain a zero.

The student who misses in excess of 10% of a class (including late sign-ins and early sign-outs) will receive an F. Ten percent is equal to 440 minutes (four (4) days) per class during the nine week period.

If a student exceeds the 10% of ANY class, he/she may appeal the failing grade through the appeals process. This requires completion of the appeals form by the student and parent/guardian. This form will be reviewed by the attendance appeals committee which will inform the student/parent of the decision.

Forms may be submittted betwen 6:30 to 7: 00 am, during both lunches and from 3:05 pm to 3:45 pm. All paper work must be logged in on the sheet provided at the front desk.

All forms are available in the main office.
