POMPANO BEACH HIGH SCHOOL MEDIA CENTER

Our mission is to foster an environment that reflects Pompano’s past and future and encourages research, pleasurable reading, and the exploration of the world. We welcome and support all students in their enjoyment of reading and the pursuit of lifelong learning. Working together we strive to provide equal access to information ideas, and knowledge through books, programs, and other resources. We believe in the freedom to read, to learn, to discover.

Media Center Etiquette

  • Respect the rights of others to work effectively.
  • Use appropriate language only!
  • Students should show their PBHS student ID to check out books and other materials.
  • Students are required to have an agenda signed by their teacher to visit the media center during the regular school day.
  • Students are responsible for the care and preservation of all instructional materials checked out to them.
  • If students are visiting from lunch, please finish lunch before visiting.
  • No food or drinks are allowed in the media center.

Book Etiquette

  • Books are checked out for a two-week period.
  • Magazines are checked out overnight only.

Computer and iPad Etiquette

  • Students should show their PBHS student ID to check out a wireless laptop.
  • Please return laptop before leaving the media center.
  • Save your work on your jump drive.
  • Laptops can be used at the tables or wing back chairs.
  • Several tables are equipped with electrical outlets that can be used if the battery runs down.
  • Students will adhere to the Broward County Policy.

 Tutoring

The PBHS National Honor Society provides free tutoring in all subjects every Mondays and Wednesdays in the Media Center from 3:15pm to 4:30pm. All students are welcome to attend. Free, interactive tutoring is available in math, science, social studies, and English through the Broward County Public Library System. Students can access eTutor. Students will need a Broward County Library Card to use this service.

Tutor.Com is a free online homework assistance program. Tutors are graduate students,  subject specialist,  rated by experience and performance,  located throughout the United States and the world. Students and tutors meet and interact in a variety of ways in an online classroom.
